High Precision Tungsten Carbide Tube Drawing Dies for Metal Pipe Production

High Precision Tungsten Carbide Tube Drawing Dies for Metal Pipe Production

Cold Heading Die Inserts/Pellets: The core components shrink-fitted into steel jackets, used for the head forming of various bolts, screws, and rivets.

Nut Forming Dies: Specialized dies designed for multi-station machines to produce hexagonal, square, and custom-shaped nuts.

Cold Extrusion Dies: Used for extruding metal into cylindrical, cup-shaped, or stepped shaft components (e.g., spark plug shells, piston pins).

Cut-off Dies: Located at the front end of the cold heading machine, used for high-speed cutting of wire into required lengths.

Carbide Punches: Paired with the main dies, these directly strike the metal blank to deform it, withstanding enormous instantaneous impact forces.

Reduction Dies: Used to reduce the diameter of the bolt shank or the end of the metal rod.

Common Grades and Technical Specifications

Since these products require extreme impact toughness, grades with medium-to-high Cobalt content are typically used:

Grade

(GOST)

Hardness (HRA)

Properties & Characteristics

Typical Applications

YG15

VK15

87.0-88.5

High hardness with moderate toughness.

Suitable for small-to-medium sized cold heading dies.

YG20

VK20

85.0-87.0

Standard Grade. Excellent balance of impact resistance and compressive strength.

General-purpose grade for most fastener dies.

YG20C

VK20-K

84.0-86.0

Coarse Grain Grade.

Superior impact fatigue resistance; highly resistant to cracking.  Heavy-duty impact environments; prevents chipping.

YG25 / YG30

VK25

82.0-84.0

Ultra-high cobalt content for extreme impact resistance.

Extra-large bolts, heavy-duty cold extrusion, and extreme impact conditions.

Product Description

Material & Process: We utilize ultra-fine or medium-coarse grain, high-purity Tungsten-Cobalt powder. All products undergo HIP (Hot Isostatic Pressing/Overpressure Sintering) to eliminate microporosity, significantly enhancing the alloys fatigue strength and crack propagation resistance.

Pressure Performance: Our cold heading dies can withstand cyclic alternating stresses of up to several thousand Megapascals (MPa). They maintain exceptional dimensional stability even under high-frequency impact.

Precision Engineering: The outer diameter (OD) undergoes precision centerless grinding, while the internal bore (ID) is ground and polished. This ensures a scientific and reasonable interference fit with the steel sleeve, preventing the carbide from cracking during operation.

Surface Finish: The forming work zone is polished to a mirror finish. This effectively minimizes frictional resistance, reduces scratches on the workpiece surface, and lowers the scrap rate.

Main Applications

Fastener Industry: Production of standard bolts (DIN/ISO/GOST), nuts, self-tapping screws, blind rivets, and aerospace fasteners.

Automotive Components: Manufacturing of engine piston pins, spark plug shells, universal joint brackets, shock absorber accessories, etc.

Hardware Tools: Cold extrusion forming of various hand tools, sockets, and wrench blanks.

Defense & Aerospace: Production of high-strength structural connectors and small-caliber shell cases.
